I am a mother to one child, almost 3 years old. I am also pregnant (5 weeks) with my second. I would like to introduce myself. I am 27 years old. I have been married for four and a half years to my high school sweetheart. We have decided to follow God and His plan for our lives. (This will come in more detail in later posts.) More than anything, I love birth and everything about it!
My background would surprise most of you, however, when it comes to my one and only birth story. My first was a c-section, for failure to progress. I have been in healing mode since he was born three years ago. (This, too, will come out in time.) That experience is the reason I am sitting here today and writing about unassisted childbirth (UC). This time around, we are going completely unassisted. No prenatal, no interventions, no classes, no outside providers, and absolutely NO interventions. There will be one prenatal visit at the Birth Center in town (because in my state, you must show proof of pregnancy in order to receive a birth certificate). So, there will be one, when I am far enough along that it will be obvious to anyone that I am indeed pregnant.
I am creating this blog in order to track all of my thoughts and all of the processes that go into unassisted prenatal (UP) and unassisted childbirth (UC). I would love it if you would walk with me through this pregnancy, especially if you are interested in this process too. I plan to go over what we decide to do or not do during this pregnancy, what our state (Florida) requires if you have a planned unassisted birth, nutrition, exercise, a three year old and a pregnancy and anything else related to the unassisted world. I would also like to get my husband involved so there will be a man's perspective on this topic. Things, I am sure, will come out if they are on my mind and will probably be highly controversial. I just want to get my voice out there and give another view to hospitalized childbirth.
